This safari offers an opportunity to experience hidden treasures of the western region of Kenya, with a stunning view of the largest fresh water body in Kenya, Lake Victoria. Victoria Sands Lodge is a lake front hotel in Mbita, Homabay County. Takawiri Island is a unique, private island with sandy beaches, that offers a coastal feel at the lakeside.
DAY 1
The journey begins with an early morning departure from Eldoret at 6:00 AM. The drive follows the Eldoret–Awasi route, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Rift Valley before reaching Awasi. Continuing towards Ahero, the journey offers views of lush farmlands and rice fields. A brief stop in Ahero allows for refreshments before proceeding through Katito and onward to Homa Bay. This route provides a mix of countryside scenery, with rolling hills and glimpses of Lake Victoria appearing in the distance.
On arrival in Homa Bay around midday, a short rest is taken before proceeding to Mbita Town. Lunch is served in Mbita before boarding a boat for the transfer to Takawiri Island, a 30 to 40-minute ride across the calm waters of Lake Victoria. Upon reaching the island, check-in at Victoria Sands Hotel allows time to freshen up. The afternoon is free for relaxation, whether lounging on the white sandy beach, taking in the peaceful surroundings, or exploring the island. As the day ends, dinner is served by the lake, followed by an overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2
The second day begins with a delicious breakfast before heading to Rusinga Island for a visit to the Tom Mboya Mausoleum in Kamasengre. The site provides insights into the life and legacy of the prominent Kenyan leader. After the tour, the return to the hotel allows for a relaxing afternoon. Guests can enjoy activities such as swimming, nature walks, or simply unwinding on the tranquil beaches. The evening is spent at leisure, with dinner served at the hotel before another restful night.

DAY 3
On the final day, breakfast is followed by a short morning walk or time to enjoy the serene island atmosphere before checking out. A boat transfer takes guests back to Mbita, where the car waits for the return journey. The drive follows the same route back through Homa Bay, Katito, Ahero, and Awasi before arriving in Eldoret in the evening, marking the end of the trip.
