samburu National Park - Bush safari

After all the time you’ve spent planning and dreaming about going on safari, this is where it finally starts. Your guide will meet you and explain everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have.

Day 1: Nairobi

Nairobi is a fascinating introduction to modern Kenyan life, with its fine restaurants hotels, bars and nightclubs. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy some excellent museums, wildlife attractions, markets and shops.

When you stay at Jacaranda Nairobi Hotel, you’re in a good position to enjoy this leg of your trip.

Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

We think you’ll fall in love with Samburu National Reserve at first sight. It’s a fantastic reserve that doesn’t get the crowds you sometimes see in Kenya’s south. The reserve is well-stocked with predators, including lion, leopard, cheetah and hyenas.

You’ll love the warm light and cooler temperatures as we take you out to explore on your evening game drive.

Make Samburu Samburu Intrepids your base for getting to know magical Samburu Game Reserve. You’re right by the bank of the Ewaso Nyiso River and all of  Samburu’s extraordinary wildlife is never far away. Tents here are big and beautifully decorated.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

Return to the splendid Samburu National Reserve and enjoy getting to know the place a little better.

Put on some warm clothes and enjoy an early morning game drive. This is the perfect time to experience wildlife and the landscape they inhabit. The light is soft and warm – perfect for photography and most animals are out and about.

Spend longer getting to know this fine reserve at Samburu intrepids.

Day 4: Samburu National Reserve – Aberdare National Reserve

Unlike the parks and reserves down on Kenya’s plains, Aberdare National Park promises you something different. It’s a world of dense forests, beautiful waterfalls and unusual  highlands moors. Wildlife here include elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes and hyenas.

In Aberdares National Park, you’ll be staying at Treetops lodge, which is where Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II was staying in 1952 when she learned that her father had passed away and she was to become queen.

The restaurants here and rooms have beautiful views.

Day 5: Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park

The time you spend in Lake Nakuru National Park is sure to be memorable. The park is most famous  for how easy it is to see black and white rhino here, as well as the populations of lions and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.

There are many things to love about staying at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, but it’s probably the views that you’ll remember the longest. From the swimming pool, many rooms, the restaurant, and just about anywhere else on the property, the panorama of Lake Nakuru and the Rift Valley highlands is simply superb. Rooms are large and lovely and flooded with natural light.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru National park – Maasai Mara National Reserve

We think you’ll love the Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of the best places to watch wildlife anywhere in Kenya. You’re almost guaranteed to see plenty of predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas.

You’ll never want to leave Zebra Plains Mara Camp which has luxury. Apart from the stylish safari tents, the bar is a wonderful place to relax and the dining here is some of the best in the area. Best of all, you’re a short drive from some of the best wildlife viewing anywhere in Kenya.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Park

Spend more time exploring the stunning natural landscapes and extraordinary wildlife of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Imagine being out in the soft, early morning  light, wrapped in a blanket, just as the animals emerge from their night’s rest or from the shadows of their nighttime adventures. The world feels fresh and new on an early morning game drive, the sun has yet to beat down upon the earth, and it may end up being your favorite time to be out on safari.

You’ll spend more time at Zebra Plain Mara Camp.
