A KENYAN BEACH SAFARI

A Kenyan Beach safari

The beach called.

You could touch the excitement they felt. They had looked at the ocean from up the sky and to say they weren’t expectant would be a lie. I was grateful that the transfer to the hotel was going to be seamless. My team worked to always make things easy.

Check in was easy as usual and everyone was out on the terrace to have lunch. A first day meant an easy day. They would get to enjoy a walk on the beach and go out dancing in the night. A few wanted to nap and get a bit of rest.

Trey and Louis held hands as they walked. They had dumped their sandals somewhere . You could hear their laughter mixed with the whistles of the wind. That was the satisfaction I derive from being a tour and travel agent. As the sun went down, I knew how beautiful the sunset would get.

This day we merged a visit to Kaya Kinondo  and the Colubus Eco-conservation tours. Kaya Kinondo was a sacred forest for the Digo tribe. The ladies tied lesos around their waists then we all made a promise not to kiss or hold hands. At the Colubus conservatory we got to see the different kinds of monkeys and baboons.

The Kisite-Mpunguti marine park was a hit with everyone on  the boat. The dolphins made everyone fall in love over and over again . Those who had dreams of falling swimming with the dolphins had their dreams fulfilled. The Swahili lunch crowned it all. They relished the taste and Louis was begging for the recipe. The music on the glass-bottomed boat complimented the laughter from its occupants. They were dressed ready for snorkelling and the adventure on the Island. I have never seen people so eager to talk about fish and their differences. Most of them got inside the water to snorkel and have fun as they headed to the island. It was fun seeing different people gathered in one place. Photographs were taken, poses were changed but there was a beautiful buzz in the air.

Hours later, we watched the boys surf and just be boys. Some girls enjoyed camel rides and others were cycling. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Dinner was at the Ali Barbour cave. The ambience and lighting was beautiful. The experience was the best. Being the last night, more dancing was in order.

A lot of adventures hadn’t been explored and I knew they would be back to fulfill their desires; till then-it was a flight back home.

Mohrale-let’s travel the world.
