Embark on an exciting journey from Eldoret through Baringo’s scenic landscapes, Maasai Mara’s vast savannahs, and Kisumu’s vibrant lakeside charm. This adventure promises beautiful sights, thrilling wildlife encounters, and rich cultural experiences.
Day 1: Eldoret – Lake Baringo – Nakuru
Depart from Eldoret in the morning and enjoy a scenic drive towards Lake Baringo. The journey offers picturesque views of farmlands, escarpments, and traditional homesteads along the way. Upon arrival at Lake Baringo, proceed for lunch at a lakeside lodge, where you can enjoy fresh local dishes while taking in the calm beauty of the lake. After lunch, set out on a boat ride to Dwekwe Island — an excellent opportunity to spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species that thrive in the area.
After the excursion, continue your journey to Nakuru and check in at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or a similar lodge. Relax in the evening as you enjoy the peaceful ambiance, followed by dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Nakuru – Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, check out and begin your journey to the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through scenic countryside and local towns, offering glimpses into rural Kenyan life. Arrive at Sentrim Mara Camp (or similar) in time for lunch and a short rest. In the late afternoon, venture out for your first game drive in the Mara. With luck, you’ll spot prides of lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, and possibly elusive predators like leopards and cheetahs as the sun dips behind the hills.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 3: Full Day in Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara, home to an abundance of wildlife. Start with an early morning game drive when animals are most active, then enjoy a picnic-style lunch out in the wild. In the afternoon, continue your exploration across the savannah in search of the Big Five and other animals such as wildebeests, gazelles, hyenas, and a wide variety of birds.
For those interested in culture, a visit to a Maasai village (optional) can be arranged, where you’ll learn about traditional customs, dances, and the fascinating way of life of the Maasai people.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Masai Mara – Kisumu
After breakfast, check out and start your journey toward Kisumu, located on the shores of Lake Victoria. The drive winds through hills, valleys, and small market towns, offering scenic diversity and a chance to see everyday life in Kenya’s western region.
Arrive in Kisumu in the afternoon and check in at the Acacia Premier Hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel or exploring the nearby city center.
Enjoy a quiet evening, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Kisumu Exploration
After breakfast, begin your day by visiting the Kisumu Museum, where you’ll discover exhibits on local culture, traditional homes, and native wildlife. Next, proceed to the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, a lakeside refuge for impalas, giraffes, zebras, and rescued animals.
Later, enjoy a delicious lunch at a lakeside restaurant, sampling local delicacies, especially fresh tilapia from Lake Victoria. In the afternoon, take a peaceful boat ride at Dunga Beach, offering a chance to spot hippos and enjoy the calm waters and birdlife.
Return to the hotel for dinner and a restful night.
Day 6: Kisumu – Eldoret
