Mt Elgon is an extinct shield Volcano on the border of Uganda and Kenya, north of Kisumu and West of Kitale. The Mountain’s highest point, named ”Wagagai” is located entirely within Uganda. On the other hand, ‘Endebess’ is the mountain’s highest point in Kenya. Some of the sites to see are Kitum Caves, Makingeny, Chesurur Falls, Chepnyalil among others.
Day 1: Eldoret-Mt Kenya
Depart Eldoret to Mt Elgon using the Kitale route, Chorlim gate. The Lower circuit is to be explored;
- Makingeny Caves
- Elephant Platform
- Chesurur Waterfalls
- Kitum Caves
Approximate time taken is 2-3 hours.
Evening View point at Elephant Platform. You May be lucky to see the Elephants going back to their bedroom (Kitum Cave). Personal refreshments at Elephant Platform(exclusive in the package). Evening game drive to see the Wildlife; Columbus monkeys, Waterbucks among others. Later proceed to Kapkuro Bandas at 6:00pm. Freshen up and relax.
Dinner and Overnight at Kapkuro Bandas.
Day 2: Endebess Bluff- Eldoret
Breakfast then proceed for a hike at Endebess Bluff. Afterwards you’ll check out of the Bandas and proceed your journey back to Eldoret.
