“I found you on Facebook,” Stephen said.
I have been in awe of how technology works. This was a client reaching out to me. He wanted a customized North Rift Valley package. He wanted a treat for his family. I didn’t know this would be one of those beautiful and unique family trips.
Most days I would be antsy because we sometimes left late and therefore we would not be able to incorporate scenic stopovers. However this family was thirty minutes early. The beauty of booking private safaris ,we give you a complimentary pick up and drop off from the residentials areas . We looked at each other and smiled with our lead guide Ngige . I couldn’t help but love them.
We left aboard the company’s land cruiser. The children’s choice of course since they had never been on one. They told stories and laughed; in short we had fun. Our job came with dealing with different kinds of people and I came to enjoy working hands off. “Please have a taste of snacks aunty Moraa ” one of the clients said . This was so sweet of them but the amount of pepper in it ….Story for another day.
Our first stopover was at Iten Viewpoint. A bit of Geography lessons for those in school. There was a bit of wind so the land was filled with beautiful whistles and mixed with birds chirping and it made beautiful music. The family awwed! And wowed as they took in the beautiful valley below. Our photographer caught beautiful images of the family and I knew those memories would take them a long way.
On the winding road we went. Some people were afraid, some enjoyed the drive.
“I can’t wait to see the divers at Cheploch,” said Kim.
He seemed to be the most adventurous of them all. As the rest cringed and screamed when the divers jumped- he cheered. He cheered real loud. This was an adrenalin junkie and I felt he could be interested in bungee-jumping and skydiving.
We got to the hotel on good time. Check in was real fast and seamless. This helped us save time to head to Lake Baringo.
“Do you know that Lake Baringo is a fresh water lake? It houses seven islands; Olkokwe which is home to the Njemps,Devil island,Gibraltor and Samatian. The others are smaller islands that disappear during the rainy seasons. Boat trips on Lake Baringo are ideal for bird watching and hippo watching.
Lake Baringo National park hosts over 470 species of birds . Also animals such as; dik-dik, greater kudu, zebras, grants gazelle, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, klipspringer and rock hyrax.” Gloria stated.
“If I knew trips like this made you read this much, I would have made sure we go on trips all the time, ” joked their mom.
“Mama, we still can go on more trips in the future. We now know of the best tour company in Eldoret and I am sure Mohrale won’t object to being at our service.” Said Kim.
“That is sweet of you Kim. I would offer only the best to you guys.” I said.
The boat trip offered just the best views. The guide pointed out different species of birds and Laki the youngest shouted excitedly when she saw a mother hippo with a calf. We were able to see a vereaux’s eagle swoop a rock hyrax.
We sat on the boat in our luminous orange life-vests as we watched the sunset bleed the reds, oranges and yellow on to the sky.
We finally left for Bogoria Spa resort ,our home for the night .Dinnertime meant people were yawning due to exhaustion. I told them to be on time in the morning so that we can leave for Lake Bogoria early.
Lake Bogoria National Park greeted us warmly . The Lake was blanketed in pink. The flamingos(Pink ladies ) were a beautiful sight. However we were informed that the flamingoes are seasonal… they keep migrating to Lake Natron in Tanzania .
Lake Bogoria trip wouldn’t be a trip without eggs boiled in the hot springs. There are over two hundred hot springs and seventeen geysers. This is the highest number of geysers in Africa; however they are no longer visible because of the rising level.
As we travelled back to Eldoret , people slept. I assumed that it was because they had a good trip.
“I will recommend Mohrale tours and travel to anyone. You guys are transparent and have made sure we had a unique experience.” Stephen told me as we got to Eldoret.
Another trip, another family – definitely another unique experience.
Mohrale – let’s travel the world.
