This safari seeks to explore the hidden treasure in the western side of Kenya, which will give you an opportunity to experience Africa beyond the tourist brochures. Lake Victoria is one of the largest freshwater bodies in Kenya.
Victoria sands lodge is a Lakefront hotel located in Mbita, Homabay county. Takawiri Island is a unique and private island with sandy beaches which brings out the “coastal” feel at the lakeside. The Lakeside sunsets here are magical: Hard to miss.
Day 1: Nairobi – Victoria Sands Lodge
Pick up from residential areas. Morning Brief, then depart to the Jomo Kenyatta international airport to catch a flight to Kisumu city .Flight time is approximately 1 hr .
Arrive in Kisumu in time and proceed with the road safari from Kisumu to use Homabay
route. The journey is roughly 2hrs from Kisumu town.
Stopover at Simbi Nyaima, a lake that was formed through volcanic eruptions and has a mythical aspect.
You will be lucky to see the beautiful pink girls (flamingoes) in this lake.
Check-in for lunch at the Victoria sands Lodge . Freshen up and enjoy the beautiful breeze from the Lake. Swimming and relaxation .
Dinner is served. Overnight bonfire as you proceed to sleep in your own leisure time.
Day 2: Takawiri Island/ Rusinga Island
Morning breakfast. Depart for Takawiri Island via speed boat or water bus which is roughly 1 hour ride from Victoria Sands Lodge.
Swimming at the Sandy beaches of Takawiri Island.
Return for lunch which is served in Takawiri island resort . After lunch proceed with afternoon water bus to Mbita town . Sundowner Experience will be arranged at Rusinga island lodge to watch the beautiful sunset by the lake .
Return to Victoria sands lodge later in the evening for dinner and overnight .
Sleep at your own leisure time.
Day 3: Departure to Nairobi
This is where your tour with us draws to a close.
After breakfast ,Check out from the hotel then proceed to Kisumu town to catch the 4 pm flight from Kisumu to Nairobi .We also feel sure that you’ll return to travel with us once again in the not-too-distant future.
