Lake Bogoria is a saline, alkaline lake that lies in a Volcanic region in a half-graben basin south of Lake Baringo, Kenya.
It is Home to one of the World’s largest population of Flamingos. The Reserve is Home to a lot of Wildlife and Birds. Its famous attraction is the hot springs. The Lake is a Ramsa site.
Lake Baringo on the other hand is the most Northern of the Kenyan Rift Valley Lakes after Lake Turkana. It is fed by several Rivers; Perkerra, Molo and Ol Arabel. It has no outlet, the waters are assumed to seep through Lake sediments into the faulted volcanic bedrock. The Park has a vast number of Wildlife.
DAY 1: Eldoret-Lake Bogoria
Depart Eldoret and Head to Lake Bogoria. Have a stopover at the Elgeyo Marakwet Iten View Point and see the Kerio Valley and the steep escarpments with Acacia Vegetation. Proceed with the journey and have a stopover at the Cheploch gorge to watch the crazy divers. Have another stopover at the famous 39 corners viewpoint. You will then proceed to Lake Bogoria to see the famous Hotsprings and a variety of wildlife such as the dik-dik, Warthogs, Impala, and gazelle. Afterward, you will head to the Lake Bogoria spa resort to check in and freshen up.
Dinner and Overnight at the Resort.
DAY 2: Lake Baringo-Eldoret
Depart for Lake Baringo after Breakfast. The scenery of Lake Baringo is breathtaking. The Lake is famous for its great number of Crocodiles and Hippos along the lake. Since it’s a freshwater lake lesser flamingos are not present at the Lake. The Lake is well known for bird viewing as it hosts a greater number of bird species. We will then proceed to the Baringo Reptile Park to see the different varieties of reptiles. Have a boat ride for an island excursion, the love island, and Hotspring Island. Have a packed lunch as you proceed with your journey back to Eldoret.
